Rick Hansen is another Canadian hero, but you may not know about him. He was inspired by his good friend, Terry Fox, to create his own epic marathon and show the world the potential of disabled people.

Time for a Mystery Number Challenge!
These numbers are important to the story of the Man in Motion World Tour! What do you know about them?
Copy these numbers into your math journal from least to greatest. You can also print this page, cut the numbers out and sort them: Rick Hansen Mystery Numbers
Then, write what you know about them. You may not know how they fit with Rick’s story yet, so just focus on the numbers themselves: Are they even or odd? How big are they? Are they rounded or friendly? If not, what are the closest rounded (or friendly) numbers? How do you say them (or write them in word form)? What do they look like when you expand them?
Next, make your best guess at which units match which numbers. You’ll need to use one of the units twice! Write down your ideas:
