Investigating Pascal’s Triangle

Lesson 1: What is Pascale’s Triangle?

  • Click here for a video and questions about Pascal’s Triangle by Ted Ed.

Lesson 2: Investigating Pascale’s Triangle

  • Get a piece of paper and create your own Pascale’s Triangle. How do you do that? Click here and watch the first part of this video (just enough to get you started)! Keep going until you have at least 15 rows in your triangle.
  • Next, you are going to take some time to see if you notice any patterns. Investigate each row and the diagonals as well. List as many patterns as you can find.
  • Finish watching the Numberphile video you started. Pay attention to the patterns she highlighted and test to see if they hold with your triangle. Test out that “hockey stick” pattern, especially. Does it always seem to hold?
